Title: School of Rock in Wirral for Open Weekend View count: 184 Rating: 5.0 (2 ratings) Description: Teenagers in the Wirral are hoping to follow in the footsteps of some of the worlds greatest music legends by attending evening classes in becoming rock stars. The School of Rock at The Bank youth club in Upton is being highlighted as part of a national initiative by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) to give young people things to do in the evenings and at weekends. Nearly £3.4 million is being made available to young people in the borough between 2008 and 2011 as part of DCSFs Aiming High for Young People strategy, which aims to discourage antisocial behaviour. Part of the funding from the Youth Opportunities Fund has gone towards buying instruments for the School of Rock.
