Title: Resettlement in the North to end before rains View count: 24 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: The Government is confident of resettling all civilians in Welfare Villages in Vavuniya before the onset of the monsoonal rains. A systematic resettlement programme is already in place. Also, the Government is providing them the required food and drinking water while meeting their other basic amenities. The programme is being mooted on the Presidents instructions and the guidance of Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa, under the Uthuru Wasanthaya Task Force. Resettlement is successfully taking place in the Jaffna, Trincomalee, Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi Districts. According to statistics of the Resettlement and Disaster Relief Services Ministry, the number resettled by yesterday was 64,466. A total of 41,695 was resettled on the 22nd of this month. From then onwards, the resettlement progressed remarkably. Civilians were resettled in the Jaffna Peninsula today under the guidance of Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri.
