Title: Remembering Manar Maged RIP Sweetheart View count: 1390 Rating: 5.0 (4 ratings) Description: This is a video Tribute I made to an angel called Manar Maged Manar Maged Mohammed was 1 of 2-a set of non identical twins, Noora and herself, born on March 30 2004. Her mother Naglaa was thrilled to find out that she was expecting 2 babies. But happiness turned to horror when Naglaa begins experiencing labor pains. She goes to the hospital, 6 weeks before her due date, and gives birth to Noora, followed by Manar. Manar needs to be delivered by caesearean section. Her heart rate is dangerously slow. When Manar is finally delivered, the doctors are shocked. Manar has 2 heads! This is a rare condition called craniopagus parasiticus. The egg in-utero fails to split completely, resulting in babies connected at the head. Then, the other twin's blood supply becomes damaged, and begins to draw blood from Manar. Manar couldn't pump enough blood for her twin to develop, and the twin remained as a skull and torso with no organs to sustain an independent life. Manar is not expected to live. However, 10 months later, Manar is still alive but has suffered 6 heart failures, convulsions and 2 chest infections. She urgently needs to be separated. When Benha Children's Hospital (in Egypt, where Manar was staying) finally finds a neurosurgeron willing to operate on Manar free of charge, the 13 hour surgery is performed on February 18-19 2005. Manar is in a stable but critical state following the operation. Despite being the only child to ever survive such a surgery, Manar lives. She goes to Oprah (Episode 'It's a Miracle!'), stars in Bodyshock: Born with 2 heads and finally goes home in June of 2005. Tragically, howver, Manar begins showing signs of brain damage, 6 weeks after going home. Dr Lotfy is concerned at what he sees and orders a scan of Manar's head. This scan reveals hydrocephalus- water on the brain due to the blockage of the shunt insterted into her head. Manar's brain is clearly damaged. And after nearly 2 years of fighting for her life, Manar passes away in hospital on March 25 2006, just 5 days shy of her second birthday. She will always be missed and loved.
