In absence of mom, her first step into her new home was welcomed by Mrs. Bhatia. This is considered an auspicious occasion as it is believed to bring good luck and wealth to the new home. A glass full of rice was kept at the entrance to the house. Before entering the house, Priti took her right foot and gently knocked the glass over, causing some of the rice to spill out of it. The rice represents wealth. By following through with this ritual she virtually agreed that she understands her duties and responsibilities regarding her new home.
