Paul VI was born there 112 years ago. Benedict XVI visited the house where his predecessor was raised and greeted Paul VI family. He also inaugurated the new headquarters for the Paul VI Institute, dedicated the promotion of studies on Paul VI and his pontificate. Interestingly enough, the institute is also home to one of Paul VI greatest passions: a collection of modern and contemporary art. In each one of the Benedict XVI ceremonies, he remembered different aspects of the life of Paul VI. Benedict XVI Paul VI Institute He was a courageous witness of hope. But he wasnt always understood, sometimes was isolated by dominant cultural movements. And while he was physically fragile, he was strong willed and led the church without hesitation. Benedict also stressed how one of Pope Paul VI priorities was to promote the education of young people, to which he devoted a lot of time and energy as an assistant to a major Catholic university organization. Benedict XVI Paul VI Institute Paul VI thought he should teach young people to judge the environment in which they live and work. Benedict XVI recalled that Paul VI advised young people to face contemporary culture critically, but to do it in a constructive way so it can be improved. The Pope also celebrated Mass in the cathedral square of Brescia before thousands of people. He recalled Paul VI closed the Second Vatican Council and gave Mary the title Mother of the Church.
