Title: Perthspectives View count: 56 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: So many success stories have already come out of our little city of Perth: Musicians such as Little Birdy, Eskimoe Joe and Birds of Tokyo have rocked the Aussie music charts and artists such as Rolf Harris and writer Tim Winton have been outstanding contributors to the arts. So what is it about Perth that inspires such creativity? We seek the answer to this question in our documentary “Perthspectives”, an exploration Biopic of some of Perth’s up and coming success stories in the creative industries. The heart of ‘Perthspectives’ lies behind the personalities of sculpture artist Fleur Schell, lead singer Tim Bott of One Tiger Down, photographer Luo Qi and solo artist Helen Shanahan. Our project ‘Perthspectives’, is a documentary exploring different perspectives on Perth, with an emphasis on the artistic and cultural side of the city that is often unseen by the general public. We challenge this notion of “dullesville” Perth and put to the global media community that Perth is in fact home to the creative talent of the future. ‘Perthspectives’ does not fit into the form and conventions typical of just one style of documentary. We have in fact taken inspiration from a number of different styles. It was our aim that ‘Perthspectives’ converge the two styles of an exposé and a biopic to bring to life the various artistic characters that the film focuses on.
