Title: Not Drowning, Waving - The Kiap Song View count: 5047 Rating: 5.0 (12 ratings) Description: This video is from the CD/DVD re-release of Not Drowning, Waving's 1988 album "Tabaran". The lyrics of "The Kiap Song", written by David Bridie, certainly did not endear the band to some of the locals in Papua New Guinea when they toured there. A "kiap" was an expatriot Australian patrol officer in PNG's pre-independence days (pre-1975), but the term is still used today to refer to colonial authorities. The "Tabaran" DVD includes a film clip of every song on the album - including NDW classics such as "Sing Sing", "Rain", "Abebe" and Up In The Mountains". As a bonus, George Telek's performances of "Amidel" and "West Papua" are included.
