Title: Norman Y. Mineta - APIA Presidential Townhall - UCI View count: 267 Rating: 5.0 (2 ratings) Description: (sorry for the shaky camera, we weren't supposed to film in the townhall) On May 17, 2008 Asian Pacific Islander American (APIA) Vote organized a historic townhall meeting with the remaining presidential candidates from both parties, in which they would address specifically the concerns and issues of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. More than 2,000 people attended the event which was held at the Bren Center at University of California, Irvine. All three candidates were physically unable to be present at the townhall, but Barack Obama joined by phone and Hillary Clinton joined via satelite. John McCain was unable to speak to those attending as he was in New York filming for "Saturday Night Live." ______________________________________ In this video, Norman Y. Mineta, one of the highest serving Asian Americans ever in US political office, is welcoming everyone to the forum. http://www.apiavote.org Tags: pacific, islander, presidential, election, democratic, primary, irvine, uci, obama, clinton, mineta, apia, vote, Author: sahuma |
