Title: Norfolk Southern #5236 LV-07 Local with Norfolk and Western (NW) Cupola Caboose 55501 trailing View count: 88 Rating: 5.0 (2 ratings) Description: The "Little Red Caboose" once the mainstay on Americas railroad is almost but a memory. Not the case today however on Detroit's Norfolk Southern LV-07 local which works the former Union Belt Line in the heart of Southwest Detroit. While much of the city is just a ghostly memory of the industrial past, this local is alive and well and Norfolk Western 55501 leads the way when the locomotive is making reverse moves with the boxcars and on the return trip, for just a moment as seen here, the "Little Red Caboose" is bringing up the back of the train just like the good ol days. The locomotive is a late 1970s vintage Southern "High-Nose" GP-38-2 with a Nathan P3 horn.
