Title: Mother Arrested After 1 Year Old Baby Is Found Walking The Street View count: 222 Rating: 5.0 (3 ratings) Description: INDIANAPOLIS -- The mother of a toddler found wandering alone over the weekend was arrested Monday on charges of neglect. Tuesday House, 38, told police that she left her nearly 1-year-old daughter, Nevaeh, alone Saturday evening to go out and drink and use drugs, 6News' Rick Hightower reported. The girl was found carrying an ash tray in a candy shop less than a block from her house in the area of 21st and Harding streets at about 8:30 p.m Store workers cared for the girl, changing her soiled diaper, until police arrived. "We brought her in because she was cold," said employee Regina Blackwell. "One girl gave her a coat, changed her Pampers and we fed her hot dogs." House told police that when she came home and found her daughter gone, she went out again, returned later that night and went to bed. She said she didn't know the girl was missing until police knocked on her door. Relatives came forward on Sunday after seeing the girl's picture on the news. Clinton House, who told 6News that he is Nevaeh's father, said he and her mother are currently separated. "I'm going to get the child back and have full custody of her," he said. "My brother in law came and knocked on my door and got me up and let me know my child was on TV, that they had her." The girl remained in protective custody Monday.
