The new ad, set to make its premiere this weekend in Europe, shows the funeral for a white limousine. Lancia says the point of the ads is to show that its Musa is the natural replacement for old-fashioned big cars. The new Musa, the automaker says, "is the first to unite the comfort, spaciousness and classiness of a limousine with the agility and compact size of a city car." Also, it must be said, the first car with an ad that features as its star the first lady of a major country. It must be paying off, since Lancia said the new model is already the top seller in its class in Italy. The ads were filmed in September — before Bruni and Sarkozy's wedding. Watch the first ad here. The exterior is equipped with a full body kit: ABT added a front lip, aggressive side skirts and a rear wing. The stainless steel two-pipe exhaust system blends well with the 19-inch wheels to create a more aggressive appearance. ABT offers three upgraded engines for the Variant: a 1.4-liter TFSI that delivers 210 horsepower, a 1.9-liter TDI that lays down 130 hp and a torquey 2.0-liter TDI with 190 hp. ABT chassis mods include springs, shocks and an adjustable sport suspension. The elegant wagon concept will debut at the 2008 Paris Auto Show next month. Powered by Mercedes' latest four-cylinder diesel engine, Mercedes says this "design study" is intended to show that a coupe can have "fast, thrilling lines" and practicality at the same time. ConceptFASCINATION combines a refrigerated luggage compartment, lots of load space — and a humidor for cigar aficionados — with wood, aluminum and smoked glass interior trim. The exterior design is intended to convey "forward-flowing energy" thanks to its frameless side window line, sculpted wheel arches and wedge-shaped profile. There's also a central ridge in the hood to continue the V-shape theme and a chrome strip running around the lower body into which the front LED foglamps are set. Inside, luxurious materials "from the world of equestrianism" include woven fabrics and saddle-style leather on the aluminum center console, top of the dashboard and door armrests. Walnut and chrome trim are also plentiful inside, and the V theme is continued with the "dynamic wing" styling of the dashboard. Mercedes-Benz says the ConceptFASCINATION is its 21st-century version of the classic shooting brake. No further plans for the design study were announced.
