Title: Lions of Islam (Gaza) View count: 109 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: Said Siyam, his son, brother Iyad and his brothers family, were martyred when an Israeli missile struck his brothers home in Gaza City during the Gaza massacre in January 2009. Siyam was born in the Shati refugee camp near Gaza City in 1959 after his parents were forced out of their home in the village of al-Jura, near Askalan, what is now the Israeli occupied town of Ashkelon during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. After completing his secondary education in Gaza City, Siyam gained a diploma in sciences and mathematics, followed by a BA in Islamic education from al-Quds Open University. He then became a teacher at local UN-run schools, a profession in which he remained until 2003. He was arrested four times by the Israelis between 1989 and 1992 for participating in Hamas activities. And later in 1992, Israel deported him along with senior Hamas leaders Abdel-Aziz Rantissi, Mahmoud Zahhar and Ismail Haniyah, and more than 400 other activists, to South Lebanon . Siyam was again detained for a few months in 1995, not long after his return to Gaza, however this time by the Palestinian Authority, which is dominated by Fateh. In subsequent years, Siyam rose through Hamas ranks, preaching at local mosques, and becoming close to the spiritual leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, who was released from an Israeli prison in 1997. After ending his teaching career in 2003, he became a member of the groups Political Bureau and head of its foreign affairs department. In March 2004, Sheikh Yassin and his successor, Abdel Aziz Rantissi, were assassinated within days of each other. Siyam had been appointed to the groups collective leadership with Mahmoud Zahhar and Ismail Haniya. Two years later, he won election to the Palestinian Legislative Council, collecting the most votes for any single candidate. Hamas won a total of 76 seats out of 132 in the parliamentary poll, challenging Fatehs long-held dominance, and was asked to form a new government. Siyam was appointed interior minister for the government, but Mahmoud Abbas and the Fateh backed Palestinian Authority decided to replace the legitimate and legal vote of the Palestinian people. Shaheed Said Siyam (Abu Musab) was father to two sons and four daughters. May Allah bless Sheikh Said, and those who were martyred with him, in the hereafter with the highest ranks of paradise. Ameen, Ameen, Ameen. Nizar Abdul Kader Mohammed Rayyan was born on March 6, 1959, in the Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. He attended universities in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Sudan, where he received a PhD in Islamic studies. Back in Gaza, Rayyan served as a preacher at several mosques and as a professor of Islamic law at the Islamic University. Married to four women, Rayyan was a father of six sons, six daughters and a grandfather of two. Fundamentally opposed to the state of Israel, Rayyan once proclaimed: "We will never recognize Israel. There is nothing called Israel, neither in reality nor in the imagination." Rayyan was arrested several times by Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) before Hamas took control of the strip in June 2007. He was among a group of Hamas leaders who founded the Islamic Salvation Party when the Palestinian Authority was formed in 1994. He was also engaged in Hamas' negotiations with the Palestinian factions and served as one of the main political leaders of the movement. In 2004, Rayyan became Hamas' highest religious leader after the Israeli forces killed Sheikh Ahmed Yassin. He was an influential preacher at what is known in Jabaliya as the "Mosque of martyrs". Rayyan, his four wives and 11 of his children were killed in an Israeli strike on his residence on January 1, 2009. Nizar Rayyan was a lion of this Ummah and he will be dearly missed. May Allah bless Sheikh Rayyan and his entire family with the highest ranks in Paradise. Ameen, Ameen, Ameen. It has been narrated on the authority of Masruq who said: We asked 'Abdullah about the Quranic verse:" Think not of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead. Nay, they are alive, finding their sustenance in the presence of their Lord." He said: We asked the meaning of the verse (from the Holy Prophet) who said: The souls, of the martyrs live in the bodies of green birds who have their nests in chandeliers hung from the throne of the Almighty. They eat the fruits of Paradise from wherever they like and then nestle in these chandeliers. Once their Lord cast a glance at them and said: Do ye want anything? They said: What more shall we desire? We eat the fruit of Paradise from wherever we like. Their Lord asked them the same question thrice. When they saw that they will continue to be asked and not left (without answering the question). They said: O Lord, we wish that Thou may return our souls to our bodies so that we may be slain in Thy way once again. When He (Allah) saw that they had no need, they were left (to their joy in heaven).
