Smith was, by his own admittance, 'baked' during his turn as MC. Not that the packed theatre cared much - we were there to watch three episodes of this truly great sitcom. After lining up for hours in the SoCal summer heat we were greeted with high-fives from Pegg, Hynes and Wright and, as an extra special bonus, the BatPod from the then-just-released The Dark Knight was parked outside. Best evening I've had in LA since arriving here in January. One could almost say it was a night of pure, unadulterated 'fried gold'.
