Title: Janet Kuypers reads poem "Down the Drain" at "One Acts" 07/06/09 from camera #1 View count: 2 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: Janet Kuypers read original poems and prose poems live in her performance art show "One Acts" in downtown Chicago at the venue "Waiting 4 the Bus" July 6th, 2009. This show combined a projected visual display of images and films to correspond with her writings, and she also had two laptop computers and two digital picture frames randomly showing additional art throughout her show. In the background played sounds of buses driving (since she was featuring at the venue "Waiting 4 the Bus"), and each piece was also started with sampling (softly) of Soul Coughing (off their album "Irresistable Bliss") of the song "Bus to Beelzebub". Included in the sound effects in the background of this show were also water sampling noises (water dripping, and even the fountain noise while Uma Thurman's character Beatrix Kiddo (Black Mamba) fights Lucy Liu's character O-Ren Ishii (Cottonmouth) in Kill Bill Vol. 1. By the end of the last piece in the show, film of Kuypers "meditating" outside on the ground at a bus stop is even played, while meditation music is played ("Sante Dei," sampled from a Meditation Music CD). This video is a clip of one of the pieces performed during this live evening of poetry (from one of the cameras documenting the show).
