Title: ILIGAN CITY BOMBING - 16 WOUNDED, POSSIBLY LINKED TO COTABATO AND JOLO BOMBINGS View count: 947 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: SENATORS WARN GOVT: Dont tag MILF in blasts without evidence By Maila Ager INQUIRER.net First Posted 16:25:00 07/07/2009 MANILA, Philippines -- Senators cautioned the government on Tuesday against making swift accusations as to who was responsible for the recent series of bombings in the country, saying this would only create further destabilization. Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. said it was the duty of government to get to the bottom of the incidents to avoid speculations and instability in the country. Kailangan hanapin na nila Teodoro, imbes na magkandidato na presidente, dapat habulin na nila kung sino ang mga pumatay, nambomba para makulong na yang mga yan [Instead of running for president, Teodoro should run after these murderers and bombers and jail them], Pimentel said over the phone. Pimentel was referring to defense secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr., who had declared his intention to run for president in 2010. Thats the duty of government to clarify all things to erase instability, otherwise, there will be destabilization. We cant suspect all kinds of organization dahil magiging guess work lang ito [this will become guess work], he said. Senator Francis Pangilinan said the government should not be quick on blaming the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) for the attacks without hard evidence. Nasaan ang ebidensya na MILF nga ang nagsagawa ng bombing? Ilabas ang ebidensya na magtuturo sa MILF bago nila sabihin na kagagawan nga ng grupo ang nasabing krimen [Where is the evidence to show that the MILF was behind the bombing? Bring out the evidence against the MILF before saying that they are behind the crime], Pangilinan said in a statement, reacting to military reports that the MILF was behind the string of bombings. He said officials should be prudent in releasing statements to the press lest they be accused of rushing results to save face. Finger-pointing and rounding up the usual suspects doesnt mean that the job is done. And rounding up the usual suspects suggests the lack of political and military will to zero in on the real culprits, he added. Pimentel agreed that it would be unfair, at this point, to accuse the MILF as he urged the rebels to cooperate in hunting down the culprits. There will be an election in 2010. It will be your only opportunity to make drastic reforms in Philippines by voting the right person for President. It is important that you research and review the candidates. Know their history and how they performed while in the public office. What have they done to stop corruption? You have only one vote. Make it worth our country. Remove those who you believe do not meet the most important requirements. Remember, if you make an informed decision, regardless of who you pick, you are not throwing your vote away.
