Title: Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek on Trial (公審蔣介石) View count: 3678 Rating: 2.5 (8 ratings) Description: On March 31, 2007, Formosa People's Court of Taiwan has attempted to open the first session of the tribunal for the trial of Major Criminals in Taiwan 228 Massacres (1947). But, the local police forces of Tao-Yuan County have rudely interrupted the tribunal and dispersed the civilian attendants, including the 228 victim families. And they have even arrested some participants. The Nuremberg Trials of War Criminals took place soon after WWII, but for more than 60 years, the authoritarian KMT party/government in Taiwan has suppressed any attempts of Taiwan people to seek for justice. Actually, this first session was held at a parking lot within the CKS mausoleum in Tao-Yuan County, a special zone ruled directly by the Taiwan Presidential Office. Whether the local Tao-Yuan polices have any right to move into this special zone to do anything (without the permission of the Taiwan Presidential Office) remains unclear. And we wonder what the Taiwan Presidential Office would have anything to say on this incident? According to Ms. Susie Su, a consultant to Formosa People's Court of Taiwan, they had applied prior to the local Tao-Yuan Authority for this gathering for the public trial of CKS, but the request was never approved. Even 60 years have elapsed after the Taiwan 228 Massacres, the demand for justice is still a very difficult task in Taiwan so long as KMT party still holds huge ill-gotten assets at hand and has major influences on the judicial system of Taiwan government. See how brutal the local Tao-Yuan polices treated the armless civilians in this case! While the KMT party led by Legislator John Chiang (蔣孝嚴, a grandchild of CKS) is trying very hard to protect the surrounding walls of the CKS Memorial Hall in Taipei, do they care at all how the families of those victims in Taiwan 228 Massacres feel about the injustice? Does not Legislator Chiang know that many many innocent martyrs (of Taiwan 228 massacres and white-terror era) killed by CKS' regime are still missing today and even without a memorial tomb to remember them? In contrast, there are more than 40,000 statues erected in public still demanding Formosa people to remember CKS! Does Legislator John Chiang have a heart and do anything to remember those innocents killed by CKS' forces, while he is asking people in Taiwan today not to forget his grandfather? He must not forget that his mother's run-down tomb in Kweilin of China was first reconditioned and maintained by some generous Taiwanese merchant before Chiang could even visit mainland.
