Ging was in charge of UNRWA's Gaza operations during the recent Israeli military operation Cast Lead. He continues to oversee humanitarian services in the territory. Given the critical role that UNRWA plays in Palestinian life in Gaza, especially in dealing with the humanitarian consequences of military activity and a closed border, Ging will offer insight into the difficult process of reconstruction and the political roadblocks that have complicated international efforts to deal with the Gaza crisis.
