Title: FF9PGWSF 75 - Earth Shrine View count: 1153 Rating: 5.0 (5 ratings) Description: Key Items Used: Earth Mirror, Water Mirror, Fire Mirror, Wind Mirror Steals and Spoils: 4,512 gil, Phoenix Pinion The two minute scene full of dialogue doesn't require much of me moving Zidane around. I think I misinterpreted what "Raise ___ Elem-Atk" does. For any attack that has an element, it will raise its damage. But for it to raise the damage of a standard attack, I think that the weapon being used has to have "___ Elem-Atk" on it for any "Raise ___ Elem-Atk" equipment to work. This is why I equipped Zidane with the Feather Hat, it has Raise Wind Elem-Atk which Earth Guardian is weak against. But none of Zidane's weapons have an Elem-Atk, so I guess it doesn't do anything. So I replace the Feather Hat with the Green Beret before the battle. After the two minute scene I fight Earth Guardian. Earth Guardian can use a physical attack, any of the -aga spells, Earthquake and Earth Shake (which is just a more powerful Earthquake). Quina is basically invincible in this battle. Any of the -aga spells will get reflected, and with the Gaia Gear the Earthquake attacks will heal him/her. With 29 Evade, s/he will usually dodge an attack too. Zidane is vulnerable to the -aga spells, but will not be affected by the Earthquake spells and will often dodge an attack. If you have paid attention to the way I handle battles, you know that I try to use battles to their fullest. There is one boss in the whole game that Quina can Eat, and that is Earth Guardian. One Limit Glove and 3 attacks from Zidane will put Earth Guardian in range to Eat. If I'm lucky enough for Earth Guardian to use an -aga spell on Quina, then that would be about as strong as one of Zidane's attacks. So Quina needs to get in a Limit Glove before Earth Guardian uses any Earthquake attacks. As long as that happens, I can't really lose. I wasn't lucky with getting an -aga spell to reflect back to Earth Guardian, but neither of them got KOed, so I didn't have to waste any turns reviving anyone. Quina learns Earth Shake. Zidane masters Clear Headed. I need the Reflect Ring for Freya, which is why I didn't just exchange Quina for Garnet immediately. Next, I need to teach Zidane, Garnet, Freya and Steiner some abilities before going off to Terra.
