Title: fetal multicystic dysplastic kidney View count: 493 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: Ultrasound examination performed by Professor Luiz Antonio Bailao depicts a case of intrautrine fetal multicystic dysplastic kidney (Potter Type II). The unilateral pathological condition of the fetal kidney was due to an obstruction of the ureteropelvic junction. This condition needs to be differentiated from polycystic renal disease and hydronephrosis. The polycystic renal disease is generally bilateral, and presents tiny cysts in the majority of the cases. Under sonographic examnination, the kidneys are depicted as voluminous and echogenic structures. In hydronephrosis, no cysts are seen, but enlarged pelvis and calices. The cysts that have been registered in this film show many different diameters, and an irregular distribution. In a near future, we are going to upload more videos to show how the differential diagnosis must be performed. A doença renal policística é bilateral.
