Title: Favorite Artists: Berthe Morisot View count: 40 Rating: 5.0 (5 ratings) Description: Berthe Morisot, born in Bourges in 1841, was a member of the circle of impressionists painters at the time. She painted landscapes, portraits, garden scenes, and boats. Her art was under-appreciated for more than a century, probably because she was a woman, but she is now upgraded to the first team of impressionists by most art critics. She was related, according to family tradition, to Fragonard, a prolific Rococo painter, and she was a friend of Pissarro, Cezanne, Degas, Monet, Corot, and Edouard Manet. In fact, at the age of 33, she married Edouard Manet's brother, Eugene. They had a daughter, Julie, who along with Eugene, appears in several of Morisot's paintings. She died in 1895 at the age of 54. Music is Claude Debussy's "Reverie." Tags: art, paintings, berthe, morisot, france, impressionism, Author: bestjonbon |
