Title: European Tree Sparrow growing up View count: 6 Rating: 0 (0 ratings) Description: This is the same bird a few days earlier than the playing footsie video. He had just learned to jump into his makeshift bed for his sleep so that we sleep knowing nothing can get to him. He has the freedom of our back patio in the day. When he was 3.5 weeks old he flies off in the daytime and returns at night to sleep in his bed in a window crevice. As we live on the 13th floor, he takes mini flight steps by flying onto the ledges of the 1st storey then the next until he reaches us. High winds will sometimes prevent him from flying up and he stays on the lower ledges until the winds abate. When he was about 5 weeks old and able to fly very well, he flew off with a very shy FRIEND he brings back when he needs some fresh bread, to visit. We kept listening to him over the next 3 months but since the 4th month we haven't heard his chirp again. Not knowing much about birds, we still do not know whether it is a male or female.
