Title: ERAP ESTRADA TURNS COMIC AT ANC LEADERSHIP FORUM View count: 2120 Rating: 5.0 (2 ratings) Description: Estrada turns comic at leadership forum MANILA, Philippines--Former president Joseph Estrada appears to have kept his humor despite controversies that plagued his life as a politician. Estrada, who was among the participants invited in an ANC-sponsored leadership forum at the University of the Philippines Friday night, continuously elicited laughter from the audience as he wittingly answered straightforward questions from veteran broadcaster Cheche Lazaro. Estrada's antics included talking more than his allotted time to speak and drawing punch lines on issues like the Reproductive Health bill and the video scandal of cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho. In explaining why he went overtime, Estrada said he was merely consuming the time allotted to Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson, who decided not to attend the forum among prospective presidential candidates after he had announced his withdrawal from the 2010 presidential race. When reminded of a quote Estrada made after he was granted pardon by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in 2007 that implied he was no longer interested to run again, Estrada replied: "Sinabi ko ba 'yun (Did I say that)? and drew cheers from the crowd. Estrada, who is known to have had extramarital affairs and has sired children with many women, also said that Reproductive Health or the use of contraceptives was proper, "based on my experience...as president." There was also an unsolicited advice to Kho: to put the warning for adults only in his sex videos. Estrada even joked about having to speak English, saying he practiced before he participated in the forum. Estrada was a school drop-out but became a very popular actor before he won the presidential elections in 1998. Estrada maintained he could still run for president but he would only do so if the opposition failed to unite and field only one candidate for the elections next year. Estrada said he would also like to avenge his best friend, fellow actor Fernando Poe Jr., who ran against Ms Arroyo in the 2004 polls, and supposedly won, but was cheated as claimed in the popular "Hello Garci" wiretapping scandal. To date, Estrada, who used to enjoy a lavish lifestyle, claimed he no longer owned properties because he has turned over everything to his family's corporation. "Nakikitira na lang ako ngayon," Estrada added, referring to his mother's home at Polk Street in Greenhills, San Juan City. Estrada said he already forgave Arroyo for kicking him out of the presidency. "Personally I've forgiven the Arroyo family. With God I learned to," he said.
