The documentary then delves into the ways in which counterfeit fashions are both an outcome and a downfall of our globalized world. In addition, it will examine how counterfeit fashions have negatively affected our world and its inhabitants. Lastly, we will suggest the action that should be taken in order to halt the negative affects of counterfeit fashion products. The first section of the documentary details the ways in which fashion has changed over time. The Industrial Revolution was the beginning of fashion as we know it today. Key inventions allowed people to purchase mass produced clothing and increased the speed of fashion cycles. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, our world truly became globalized, as did fashion. Fashion cycled faster than ever before, and consumers had access to more brands of products than ever before. With introduction of desirable, expensive designer brands came the production of counterfeit products, that are sold for much cheaper than the original. In our globalized world, when one person buys a counterfeit product it can affect numerous people. Counterfeit goods are often produced by children, who work in poor conditions for meager pay. The profits from counterfeit goods often support drug cartels in underprivileged countries. Additionally, counterfeit products result in billions of dollars of lost revenue to the individuals who created and marketed the original product. There is a simple way to resolve this problem: do not buy counterfeit goods. Counterfeit Fashion: A Downfall of Globalization illustrates that the purchase of a counterfeit product does not end with the consumers initial excitement of buying an inexpensive product. In contrast, the affects are far reaching and detrimental to countless individuals. Tags: medium, Author: MelanieAU0011 |
