Just in time for Thanksgiving, celebrity cook Paula Deen brought some of her down-home personality and traditional Southern cooking to the troops at Ft. Bragg. In a thank-you salute, Deen along with The All-American Chorus, took to the stage and entertained over 600 troops. Paulas husband, Michael, joined her on stage to help introduce a few distinguished guests and announce the Spouse of the Year award. The pair also shared family stories with the crowd. In addition to performing a live show, Deen visited with injured troops and new mothers at the medical center. There she signed cookbooks and took photos with the patients while sharing favorite recipes, stories and holiday ideas. In the 1990s, Paula opened her Savannah restaurant, The Lady and Sons, which remains a popular and successful Savannah restaurant today. Since then shes authored four cookbooks, has a lifestyle magazine called Cooking with Paula Deen and her own TV shows, Paulas Home Cooking and Paulas Party on the Food Network. Two of her most recent cookbooks include Paula Deen Celebrates and her memoir, Paula Deen: It Ain't All About the Cookin'. Forbes recently named Deen on its 2007 Celebrity 100 List of The Most Powerful People in Show Business.
