Title: Call of duty - modern warfare 2, Bush,Brown,Obama and Blair Kill Thousands - Pac Man to Blame! View count: 147 Rating: 5.0 (19 ratings) Description: So another media chestnut is rolled out of the garage to scare and misinform the knee jerk populus. A teenager was brutally murdered by a 17 year old friend and apparently the motive seems to be jelousy of the younger friends populaity and not forgetting the computer game which so warped his fragile brain that he copied the fictitious violence that he saw and interacted with on screen, this takes me right back to the late 1980's when Ozzy Osbourne (onece bad lad and now friend of the president) was taken to court when a young man blew his brains out and his family found a black sabbath record on his turn table called "suicide solution" so they tried to sue Ozzy (unsucessfully). The way the imagery and violence within entertainment effects individual's is as relative as someone using a bread knife all their life to merely cut loaves up and then someone else using the same kind of knife in a brutal murder-it is the individual that is warped not the weapon that is used. I find it so difficult to stomach hearing these knee jerk reactions to these tragedys as the aftermath seems to be a constant assault on violence in entertainment that is pin pointed as the direct cause of acts of violence. Children/teenagers etc may be pretty hardend to violent imagery within entertainment but saying it causes kids to go out and commit acts of violence is simply unfair, I know many kids who play games like "Man hunt" - the game in question that has been linked with this reecent murder and they are just normal, likeable, gentle well adjusted kids who know the distinction between fantasy and reality. If this violence in entertainment arguement is to be used by the people who seriously belive that violence on the television and within entertainment influences kids to go out and maim and murder surely we shoud look at the mainstream roll models out there who are meant to protect our moral fibre and govern us in a humane way, constant statistics and pictures of the carnage in the persian gulf and the "morally courageous" war against terror are much more likely to make a child equate violence being acceptable as a form of expression. I am not saying i have any answers here or understand the human mind that much but i will say that if ANYONE commits a violent act it is more likely due to be influenced by the way violence is portrayed as a means of personal expression from the drunken idiots in the pubs who ruin everyone else's nights and then go home and beat the wife and kids to the guardians of truth, justice and the American way who make violence seem like it is acceptable. The buck must not be allowed to be passed any more from the true perpetrators to the people who are used to make the smoke screen between the acceptable and unacceptable faces of violence.
