Title: Airborne Drop a Tank from a Plane: M551 Sheridan View count: 13901 Rating: 4.8235292 (17 ratings) Description: Someday, you'll be able to drop a light tank from a C-130 Hercules that can support paratroops by taking out main battle tanks with missles, fire shells, and swim across rivers. Well, that day is passed since they retired the M551 Sheridan and didn't replace it with the M8 Buford (fully qualified and ready to deploy the few already made), but with the Stryker MGS which is too heavy to airdrop from the C-130, and only been done in tests with the gun-less Stryker from the C-17. It had a lot of bugs when it came out in the 60s, but it was a working gee-whiz light tank by the time it was retired in the 90s.
