Title: A Dream Come True ~ Ch. 89 View count: 160 Rating: 5.0 (10 ratings) Description: People have different ways to handle situations. There can be desperation, anger, and even hostility. But tears are always involved. True love can't break even in the most horrible of tragic events. Fav. comment: gioiaxpianogirlx ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I woke up and touched my lips. It was like I could still feel Joe's soft lips on them. How I missed him. I looked down at him and my face dropped when I saw his eyes closed. No matter what I did, I couldn't wake him up. I kissed his lips. They were a bit warmer than yesterday. I slowly put myself on top of him and closed my eyes. I just wish he would hold me like he used to. I want to feel his hand run up and down my arms. I want his lips to curve into a smile so that I could smile with him. I want to see those glorious brown eyes that pierce right through me and send me to heaven. I want him back. My mother came in and saw me in the same position as I always was: sitting and stroking his hair. "Honey, please eat." I shook my head. "Say something. Why are you acting like this?" I continued to stroke Joe's hair. My mother sighed and left. Why couldn't they understand how hurt I was? All I did was lay next to him, stroking his hair or just talking to him. I would lay my head on his chest and listen for his heartbeat. I wanted to be sure that he was still there. I cried for him and when the tears ran out, I went back to staring at him and pleading for him to wake up. All my attempts to do so failed. My father came in. "Abigail, your mother has lunch on the table." I did not want to eat. He sighed. "Yes, Abigail. I know he's alive. His heart is indeed still beating. But sweetie, he's slowly dying. He's not going to wake up. I'm sorry." A tear ran down my cheek as he left. I knew he was right. I was going to end up losing him. I cried for hours. I woke up the next morning and looked over at Joe. Why did he have to do this? I grabbed his hand and softly kissed his fingers. "Please come back to me. I love you. I miss you." I put his hand to my cheek. "I miss the way you would touch me." I ran his hand down my neck, over my chest, and onto my lap. I held his hand firmly as a tear splattered onto it. "Please wake up." There was a knock at the front door. I heard it open and there were voices. My mother opened the door. "Abigail, there's someone here to see you. Her name is Keri." I nodded my head. Keri came in and gasped. "Oh my gosh. What happened to him?" Tears flowed as her reaction built onto the guilt inside. "Lady Abigail, what happened?" I stood up and grabbed the letter and handed it to her. Tears filled her eyes as she read. "Oh, dear." "He left it at night so I would see it in the morning and no earlier. We found him at the bottom of the waterfall." "Is he... dead?" "No. His heart is still beating." "But... he is going to, right?" I broke down. "Yes," I whispered in between all the tears. "I want to help him but I can't. I miss him so much." I sobbed as Keri came and hugged me. "I'm sure he'll wake up soon. He has such a loyal girl beside him." "I hope he does." "His parents are looking for him. They're going to find him and take him back to the castle." I held onto Joe's unresponsive body. "No! They can't take him from me! I need him!" "Lady Abigail, I know you love him but his parents are very worried." "I don't care. I need him here." "What is his heart rate?" "Twelve beats every minute," I admitted sadly. "Twelve? Oh, no. That is much too low." "I know. I don't know how to help him." "Let's count it to make sure." I grabbed his hand as Keri started to count. I leaned over and kissed his lips very softly and whispered, "Come on, Joe." "Oh my gosh." "What? How much is it?" "Forty." "What? Let me hear." I put my head on his chest but I heard a thump every five seconds. "What? That can't be." "You don't understand, Lady Abigail. It was slow until you kissed him. His heart sped at that moment. He loves you." "He can feel that?" I cradled his face in my hands. "Check it again." "It's fast." "Joe, sweetheart, can you hear me? Joe?" "Same speed." "Say something please. Do anything." "It's going down." "No, Joe." I kissed him. "It's really fast." "Joe, please. Do something. I love you. Wake up for me, Joe." "He seems to respond when you kiss him. He knows his true love." I smiled weakly. Keri left and I was alone with Joe again. I let my hand run over the smooth features of his perfect face. Why had he done this? How could he even think about something like this? I had to help him. But what could I do? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Will Abigail be able to help him? Will Joe wake up?
