Title: ... And that's One Million particles!! #6: SPACE MADNESS!! View count: 94 Rating: 5.0 (1 ratings) Description: Another one in this 'draw as much particles as possible to see if you can make them look nice' series. Things started to look like weird sci-fi electro-stuff... You're looking at some simple particles physics running on a simple nvidia 8800 GT GPU. Since the amount of particles is huge, I can use them to draw 3D 'static noise'. Now watch me after I add a couple of forcefields to this 'noise'! Beautiful patterns emerge... I'm using 1024*1024 textures for position and velocity, and calculate forces passing force field positions to the shader. With some optimizations or better hardware, i could go up to 4 or 16 million particles. That's just insane!! ;) Next up is computer-vision on the GPU combined with physics, so the particles will react to what the webcam sees. (ie. a GPU version of my Interactive Logo app) oh and for those who are interested, this is running on an nvidia 8800 GT, without using CUDA or PhysX.
