Title: 24 hour ad challenge 2009 Team 7 View count: 504 Rating: 1.5 (2 ratings) Description: Brill, simply BRILL! Did you know what you were doing when acting/editing? The faces are spot on, the gestures the timing the incidentals... Did it just turn out or was it planned? Are you THAT good? I watch adverts all the time for the production and acting (couldn't tell you what the hell was being sold, mind you...) and when I first saw this, a LIST of BRILL THINGS wrote itself. If you can be arsed, here it is: 1, Slow slug pace, dull lighting for start - contrasts the brightness and dynamism of what follows. 2. Gradually beginning, germ of idea, doesn't rush ( and consequently doesn't trivialise) 3. Fabulous toe tap music starts... Read more 4. Exchanged looks with Gaby, widens scope (audience realises focus is not just the person), tempo builds 5. Actor turns facewards past camera with meaningful grin. Keeps this in view with head turned over shoulder just long enough to signal intent before moving off. (Did you learn this technique at Bretton Hall? Or does it just come automatically?) 6. Scrabbiling for pads - Brill beyond brill! (Most actors would either have swept up the lot efficiently, or hammed up being clumsy, like a pantomime clown. The missed pad didn't slow the actor's hand one bit emphasising the urgency. Did you intend this to be so good?) 7. Faces. Smile first on Nick then move. Most adverts wouldn't have invested time for this, they'd have had him move at the same time. Gaby's pretty teethy smile complements your open-mouthed concentration, tight-lipped wryness and Nicks broad grin. Did you agree to have this wonderful variety in expressions before you started? 8. Gestures and poses. The gentle touch on Nicks shoulder to move him out of the way communicates a whole library of meaning here. The backdrop of Nick and Gaby watching you point, gesture etc focuses on your actions better than a super trouper. Repeating this with them bedaubed with stickies is damnclever. Your ducking and nodding is better than anything I've so far seen on any telly ad. 9. Fliming/editing. Loads of camera angles but none too long to bore, nor to quick to confuse. Sound dubbing for pen, paper flick, keyboard and chair etc spot on. If this is Nick's work, the boy done good!! 10. Bloody object lesson in how to use limited time! You three worked hard to create/polish this! Tags: 24, hour, ad, challenge, ica, advert, Author: 24hourfilmchallenge |
