Title: 2008 Workers Memorial Day View count: 226 Rating: 5.0 (5 ratings) Description: As tragic as the Imperial Sugar plant explosion is there is something more tragic happening as I speak. We loose 15 family members a day all of which are preventable, unexpected and mostly go unnoticed leaving the families and co workers isolated, fearful and dazed. We loose more workers in a year than we have lost in the total 5 years of the Iraq war. There is a Battle going on right here in the states, a fight for our right to live and provide for our families. We need 2 things for this to happen: • Mobilization A new wave of families, workers, H&S organizations and our government that will voice our battle cries with a force never before seen or heard . • Acknowledgment With this united force we will declare recognition of our need for a solid enforceable and accountable system in OSHA, MSAH and workers compensation. This force will also ensure our loss and grief are recognized & our need for answers and involvement are heeded Change will come to pass but we need you. We need everyday people who are mad as hell. Families are erecting billboard, signing petitions, writing congress men and women, contacting media, local Unions and H&S advocates. Volunteering to perform small and large tasks. Please take a few moments to read through the family bill of right and the resource guide. See what others are doing and learn about the unknown needs of families. There are so many ways to help in the front lines and the rear flanks but our battle cries will never be heard if you are silent. So Join The Battle, because "going to work should never be a grave mistake!" Tags: workers, memorial, day, tribute, osha, msha, comp, Author: WorkersMemorialDay |
