Young heroes: Twin kids fight off carjacker

7-year-old twins in San Antonio, Texas, are being hailed for their bravery after they successfully fought off a carjacker, saving themselves and their 1-year-old sibling. NBC's Ron Allen reports.

>> reporter: the thought of what happened terrifies lucille azado, her 7-year-old twins and 1-year-old baby boy kidnapped.

>> we were playing in the car and then we see this man drive the car.

>> the boys fought back with everything they had, even a plastic toy snake.

>> i got the head and i went like that to his arm. saying stop, stop.

>> reporter: while brother lewis fought with his feet. mom, who had gone inside to get the baby a bottle frantically chased the car and tried to block it, along with her husband.

>> i was in front of the car, because i didn't want to let him come through. my husband was banging and banging, trying to break through the window to the kids. the kids are screaming.

>> reporter: it was all too much for the would-be kidnapper, who released a children about a mile from the home.

>> he said stop and you'll see your mom.

>> the family safely back together. the police gave the boys medals for bravery, while they search for the suspect who, for now, has gotten away. for "today," ron allen , nbc
