Savannah loses suitcase, buys outfit in 16 minutes

TODAY’s Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer attended the “Make a Difference Day” awards lunch on Thursday, hosted by TODAY contributing correspondent Jenna Bush Hager. When Guthrie’s suitcase was lost before the event, she managed to pull together an outfit in 16 minutes.

>> that's right. it was wonderful. as you well know, jenna bush hager hosted make a difference day honor awards lunch, honoring 14 people contributing their communities. we were there. this was the first and time, nat, you and i will share a stage with jon bon jovi . he was there, too. we got to meet some amazing people. take a look.

>> i'm looking down at a young lady named jessica collins here, who we met at a photo shoot for the usa weekend magazine.

>> when she was 10 years old, 10 years old, she saw a need in her community. she couldn't believe that there were some kids who didn't even have a bed. she decided to do something about it.

>> and after we met jessica at that photo shoot , i went home to my children, 12, 10, and 7, and grounded them for a month. [ laughter ]

>> just for a lack of effort. it was a great event. by the way, kudos to savannah. her bags got lost on the plane. she arrived in washington in jeans and a t-shirt. and we went in an suv and went to a store and in 16 minutes, savannah, what did you accomplish?

>> well, i went with megan, one of our employees here at nbc and jenna bush hager . we fanned out across the department store . jenna went to the shoe department. megan and i went to the dresses. you were timing us, thanks for the extra pressure. bought a dress, bought the shoes, and we made it on time to the event.

>> 16 minutes, 13 seconds, to be exact.

>> takes a village.

>> it really does. congratulations, savannah.
