Marilyn Monroe’s earrings to go on auction block

Darren Julien and Martin Nolan of Julien’s Auctions offer a look at some of the memorabilia that will be on sale at the upcoming Hollywood Legends Auction next week.

>>> we're back at 8:45 with an up close and look at some of hollywood's most famous memorabilia. we have items from next week's hollywood legends auction. good morning to you.

>> we've done a lot of segments. this is the first time i've seen a double-sided ax.

>> john used this in two of the " lord of the rings " films, estimated $120,000 to $140,000.

>> is it heavy?

>> yes.

>> next we have some marilyn monroe earrings. tell me about these.

>> these are earrings she wore. they come from her estate. she wore them during the premiere of "the rose tattoo " with marlon brando and also in many appearances. we estimate them at $150,000 to $200,000.

>> this is "the dorothy dress."

>> this is not the one that was in the movie.

>> that was sold earlier.

>> and this is from bruce lee . the movie was completed in 1975 . a bruce lee passed away at age 33 in 1973 . he only did four adult martial arts movies . estimated 6,000 to 8,000. very well worn.

>> they are well worn. that's part of the mystique.

>> we didn't put them in the washing machine.

>> beatles memorabilia is huge. we're kind of getting to the 50th anniversary here. should we start here?

>> yeah. the beatles '65 album.

>> this is estimated $200,000 to $300,000, signed by all four of them. highly collectible. these sell for huge money.

>> haven't they signed i would think thousands of records?

>> but not very many after they became famous in 1964 ? and it's signed on the front of the album and it's capital records . so again, highly collectible and highly sought after.

>> it will look very cool in someone's house.

>> maybe we saved the best for last.

>> i want to hold your hand.

>> and i yours.

>> because she loves you. this is the guitar that was used when they recorded "i want to hold your hand," which became -- that's how they became famous here in the united states . they came here on the " ed sullivan show ." he bought this guitar here in 1963 . he wanted one because john lennon also played a lichenbacher.

>> can i touch it?

>> can you.

>> can i play "stairway to seveseven -- heaven?"

>> this is here free to the public until may 10th . fantastic exhibition including this. we encourage people to come out.
