Kerry: Assad cannot be part of new government

Syria’s government and western-backed rebels met for the first time today at peace talks in Geneva, Switzerland. Secretary of State John Kerry is taking part, and said Syrian president Bashar al-Assad cannot be part of the country’s transitional government. Assad is refusing to step aside.
