‘Everybody loved him’: TODAY honors tech killed in crash

The TODAY family remembers Jim Lovell, 58, who was among those killed when a commuter train derailed in New York City. Lovell was on his way to work to do a setup for the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting special when the accident occurred.

>> talk about this morning but a lot of us have heavy hearts for the loss of one of our dear friends and the derailment of the train.

>> we want to take a second to remember one of our own. jim lovell . an audio technician part of our nbc family and part of every concert we had on the plaza. he was on his way into rockefeller center to rehearse and prepare for the lighting of the christmas tree when the crash happened. we want to send along our deepest condolences to his wife and his son's fin, hudson, and jack and his daughter brooke. he was an enormously talented job that always did his job was grace even under extreme pressure. he was working tirelessly with a smile on his face. his son finnsaid words can't express how much my father meant to me. rest easy dad. love you. and all of us here at nbc share those sentiment with the lovell family.
