‘Hunger Games’ set to smash box office records

Fans can’t seem to get enough of the “Hunger Games,” and the latest film has already raked in more than 70 million dollars in its first two days in theaters. NBC’s Stephanie Stanton reports.

>> reporter: the weekend isn't over yet, "catching fire" already brurning it up, bringing in more than $25 million in its first night alone.

>> reporter: the original hunger games had the biggest non-summer opening ever, $152 million. some estimates put total ticket sales for "catching fire's" opening weekend as high as $160 million. if that happens, it will surpass twilight tag ga nch new moon." further fanning the flames.

>> a gargantuan thanksgiving as well. even new movies coming out at christmas time , i think it will hold on quite well.
