White House staffer fired for Twitter vent

A White House Twitter mole fired last week for anonymous tweets has apologized for the missives, which insulted national leaders including former Sectretary of State Hillary Clinton.

>> reporter: it's some story. it's something many disgruntled workers fantasized about. using twitter to anonymously vent about everything you hate about your job. but this was a senior foreign policy advisor to the president of the united states . he was one of the president's national security counsel advisors on iran. he was fired last week for leading a secret life on twitter. for the last two and a half years he has been viciously tweeting about coworkers policies, republicans and journalists. josh rogen was among those that thought he was an insider.

>> it was a mix of leaking sensitive national security information, criticizing the policies of the administration he worked for, and insulting the personalities and appearance of very famous national security officials.

>> reporter: the anonymous tweets began in february 2011 with president obama 's handling of the egyptian political unrest which was being second guessed. tweeting about hilary clinton . my sources tell me hilary was not happy with today's nyt tick to be on he kwipt. she's cursing. who the f told me he was a good idea and he didn't shy away from anthony weiner 's twitter controversy. was huma abdean wearing beer goggles the night she met anthony weiner ?

>> late last night he e-mailed an apology and said in part what started out as an intended parody account of d.c. culture developed into inappropriate and mean spirited comments. i bear complete responsibility for the affair and sincerely apologize to anyone who was insulted. just know you'll always get caught.
