Senate returns for last-ditch effort on shutdown

Efforts by the House were rejected by Tea Party conservatives on Tuesday, so the U.S. Senate will meet once again today in hopes of developing a last-minute deal to end the government shutdown and raise the nation’s borrowing limit.
