Amanda Knox faces retrial over 2007 murder

After the Italian justice system overturned her acquittal,  American Amanda Knox prepares for retrial over the 2007 murder of her roommate in Perugia, Italy.

>> reporter: it was the decision heard around the world. after four years in jail, amanda knox cleared of the 2007 murder of her roommate inside this apartment in italy. back on american soil, a free woman.

>> reporter: in her hometown of seattle, she goes back to college and writes a memoir trying to put the past behind her until it rocks her world again.

>> the acquittal overturned this morning.

>> reporter: they order a new trial forcing knox to face the same murder charges all over again. an investigative journalist who spent a year covering the trial says the new hearing maybe an attempt to resolve any doubts left in the court of the public opinion.

>> the majority of italians believe she is guilty. the supreme court can't be oblivious to that fact.

>> reporter: her family and attorneys are hopeful her acquittal will stand.

>> amanda knox was not involved in this horrific murder and she is absolutely unequivocally not guilty.
