Woman wins lawsuit over credit report mistakes

A jury awarded an Oregon woman $18.6 million after she tried for two years to get mistakes on her Equifax credit report corrected.

>>> yahoo, have you had issues with your credit report ? a lot of people have. well, after years fighting to fix major errors on her report one woman walked away with one of the largest awards against the consumer credit agency ever. a jury awarded her $18.6 million in damages against equifax. julie miller claimed that she contacted that agency 8 times over a two year period to correct everything from her accounts she didn't open to her social security numbers and birth date. that did not happen so it damaged her ability to get credit. equifax declined to comment on the specifics of the case but is planning an appeal. earlier this year a federal study found as many as one in five consumers has errors on the credit report . $18 million will fix that in a hurry.
