Violent protests erupt in Cairo, at least 16 dead

Protesters attacked and stormed the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo, calling for Egypt’s president Mohammed Morsi to step down. NBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin reports.

>> reporter: that's correct. they put the death toll at 1600 more injured. the vast majority of those happening at the headquater of the muslim brother hood where clashes happened last night as they attacked it and stormed it and ransacked it this morning. they're very angry with the muslim brother hood and more importantly, their president morsi who came from the brother hood. he was elected a year ago but they signed a petition asking for him to step down. today they have given the president up until tuesday evening to step down from power. but so far, he says he is the democratically elected leader.
