you see, the smart tube reaches the bottom so you can spray every last drop. that is magnificent. yes it is... isn't it? absolutely magnific... my bottle! my eagle! introducing... quick , get a rodent. uh, re-introducing ...a rodent, benjamin. smart tube technology.
>>> don't move.
>> all right, we are back with more, and we're ready to play our weekly trivia game we call "who knew." with summer arriving friday, we're kicking things off with a celebration of the summer solstice . kathie lee is ready to hand out $100 to those who get it right. for those who don't, they get her fabulous cd. you can't lose really. [ applause ]
>> hear to help out is lori bergamoto, editor of "lucky" magazine. she's been wanting to do this for years.
>> i did. who knew?
>> this slaed from chapel hill , north carolina . she wanted me to cheat, and i said no. the summer solstice occurs when -- the sun burns hottest and you are most at risk for a sunburn. when the sun reaches its highest position in the sky. the sun shines its brightest. or when the sun passes over the equator?
>> oh, dear. it is number two -- [ bell ]
>> she's right. [ applause ]
>> well done. well done.
>> she may have guessed. explain what this means.
>> there is the time that the sun is at the northernmost part of the northern hemisphere 's sky. so as we orbit, this is the time when we get closest to the sun.
>> got it.
>> that's why we have so much daylight.
>> my favorite time of the year, by the way. back to you.
>> from louisiana, here's your question -- june 21st is the longest day of the year. not always if you know what i'm saying. what is the longest movie ever made? "the cure for insomnia," "gone
with the wind," "heimat ii: a chronicle of a generation" or "the longest most meaningless movie in the world"?
>> i'd say "gone with the wind."
>> the correct answer, surprising. "the cure for insomnia." honestly?
>> yes, honestly. it's an art film . in 1987 it came out. it is 5,220 minutes long. let me do the math, that's 3.5 days.
>> that's the most ridiculous thing i've heard.
>> from john henry timmons. basically a man reading a poem int interspliced for not suitable for work clips.
>> and weird. over to you.
>> and weird. lexington, kentucky, this week. june 21st is also the first day of summer which means beach season. when was the bikini first invented? 1946 ? 1956 ? 1960 ? 1963 ?
>> a? [ bell ]
>> it's even older than i am.
>> 1946 .
>> this is when i was hoping you would flash the picture of kathie lee in the bikini. that is the hottest picture ever. yes, the correct answer, 1946 . an engineer in france named louis rejard created it and named it the bikini after the nuclear test explosions going on at the bikini atoll . he said the swimsuit was going give a big bang , bigger than the atomic bomb .
>> there you have it, guys.
>> back across to you.
>> all right. she's from jersey. what color is the sun, miss jersey? is it white, orange, yellow, or red?
>> oh, no. when i color a coloring book , it's all of those colors. so i'm going to go with white. [ bell ]
>> yes! [ applause ]
>> all right.
>> that was weird analysis. but okay.
>> it worked. the sun is white?
>> the sun is white. the reason -- she wasn't completely wrong. she said it's all of those colors. white is the inclusion of all of those colors. like black and the absence of color, white is all the colors. and the sun doesn't turn yellow to our eyes until it passes through the earth's atmosphere. it is actually all colors.
>> you're smart, lori.
>> yes, i'm a little science-y. there's fashion, style at "lucky," and science.
>> thanks for coming to see us. appreciate it.
