Man with links to Boston bombing killed

A man officials say knew the bombing suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was shot and killed in Orlando, Fla., when he allegedly attacked an FBI agent who traveled to Orlando to interview him. NBC’s Pete Williams reports.

>> a deadly shooting during the night in orlando that could have links to the boston marathon bombings. pete williams is joining us from boston and joins us by phone. pete, what are officials saying happened there?

>> they say this is not probably connected to the execution of the bombing, but this is someone they say who knew the older bombing suspect, tamerlan tsarnaev. fbi agents went to orlando, florida, to interview the man. ibrahim toadashev. they had talked with him, he was cooperative earlier this week, they went back to talk to him again, and officials say the man attacked the fbi agent who then shot and killed him. as i say, he was connected to a radical group in russia, but officials don't believe that he had any involvement in the bombing. they're investigating whether he may have been involved in a separate crime unrelated to the bombing, but which could have involved tamerlan tsarnaev. we'll have more later in the day, tamron.
