Police: Lone Star suspect had stabbing ‘fantasies’

Lone Star college student Dylan Quick was arrested yesterday after stabbing more than a dozen students, and authorities are now saying he had been planning the attack for a long time, having “had fantasies of stabbing people” since he was “in elementary school.” NBC’s Jay Gray reports.

>> reporter: good morning to you, natalie. that suspect dylan quick was arrested on three counts of aggravated assault and could face more charges in the attack at lone star college that investigators now say he had been planning for quite some time. investigators say this man, 20-year-old dylan andrew quick , pulled a razor type knife from his backpack and began slashing fellow students in between morning classes at lone star college .

>> when i came out everybody was screaming and crying and nobody really knew what was going on.

>> reporter: pictures from witnesses captured the chaos. in the panic, steven meida and others students chased down the suspect, wrestling him to the ground in a common area on campus.

>> we pushed him down. as soon as he knew he was caught he said "i give up." i sat on top of him and said why did you do this?

>> reporter: part of the answer coming overnight a written release from the sheriff's tent which says quick told investigators during a voluntary statement he has had fantasies of stabbing people to death since he was in elementary school .

>> when we got on scene it was chaotic, we were able to set a triage area.

>> reporter: victims describe stab wounds to the shoulders, neck and face.

>> this girl comes out says my friend is dead and another girl had a hole in her cheek.

>> reporter: none of the injuries are considered life-threatening. six victims are recovering in a houston hospital this morning. counselor also be on camp to us help faculty and staff who, like investigators, are trying to understand how all of this happened. natalie?
