Conrad Murray: ‘I don’t feel guilty’

As proceedings in the civil suit for wrongful death filed by Michael Jackson’s mother begin, Conrad Murray – Jackson’s doctor, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter – is speaking out from jail, saying he is “not interested in giving testimony” in the new trial. NBC’s Diana Alvear reports.

>> reporter: the man convicted of killing michael jackson saying to sang to cnn's anderson cooper from prison. in 2007 he was found guilty of involuntarymanslaughter.

>> i was not given due process. i think the judge was clearly not impartial.

>> reporter: jackson's mother katherine is suing aig the company that produced her son's last tour. she claims they were negligent in part for hiring murray . aeg denies liability and says the singer insisted on having murray as his doctor.

>> at this time i have not been subpoenaed and i am not interested in giving testimony in the trial.

>> reporter: he says he's pleading the gift because he's appealing his conviction but when pressed it shall it shall.

>> if i testify, i'll testify very honestly.

>> reporter: the last time murray spoke to the media, it was with nbc 's savannah guthrie , just before he was sentenced.

>> do you feel guilty that he died?

>> i don't feel guilty, because i did not do anything wrong.

>> reporter: murray stuck to his story from jail.

>> i did everything when i discovered michael in his condition to try to help him.

>> reporter: and when it seems mere words wouldn't do --

>> i'm so sorry for -- that laddie who hasn't got a daddy

>> reporter: he sang a song that tells his story.

>> i had no toys, i had nothing, i walked desolate for years but as i grew up my heart has been whole and my heart says to help.
