Beyonce stirs controversy with ‘Bow Down’ single

As Beyonce prepares to go on tour this summer, she is facing scathing criticism from even her most loyal fans for her new song, “Bow Down,” which many are saying promotes an anti-feminist message. NBC’s Mara Schiavocampo reports.

>> reporter: the song faced scathing criticism even from the most devoted fans. keshia cole wrote first women need to stick together, now bs better bow. rush limbaugh weighed in saying the song was really about women submitting to men.

>> she march rid the rich guy, she now understands, she now understands it's worth it to bow down.

>> this kind of controversy is not typical for beyonce . when you're at the top you're always going to have haters, good or bad so you got to worry about it when they're not talking about you. as long as they're talking about you you're still relevant.

>> reporter: thursday the single lady's star announced a new partnership with h&m codesigning clothes and appearing in added fs in their summer collection, building an empire and the soundtrack to match. no comment from beyonce on this controversy, and there's no word if that song is the official single or if it will even be on her new album. fans jump to her defense and say those lyrics are nothing more than typical hip-hop bravado.
