>>> this morning on "today's" quest for the best, savvy save savers. jessica tucker from naples, florida. back with us to judge the winner is jeff yager, also host of the series "the cheap life." what are we looking for here?

>> creativity, and effectiveness, trifecta of money-saving.

>> you are due any minute here.

>> i am. might be a first for the "today" show.

>> we will rush through this segment. tell us what you do here.

>> i love high-end beauty products , fep they're organic. sometimes it's the most expensive product to buy. i've found ways to make a lot of these things at home for a fraction of the cost. this is pomegranate. i make a pretty lip and cheek stain. this is probably just your color.

>> jeff will try it.

>> little rouge on the ocheeks?

>> it does. it's light coverage. if you want more you could build up. this is another way to make facial cleanser at home. cucumber juice, coconut milk and honey. mine is old in an old frapuccino bottle.

>> laundry detergent?

>> $13, you'll produce 250 loads of laundry using washing soda , borax, shredded bar soap . it will cost you five cents a load compared to 40 cent as a load for your typical store-brought brand.

>> lots to think about. what's your big secret here?

>> i like to recycle, upcycle and breathe new life into old clothes.

>> okay.

>> i have a 7-year-old daughter, jasmine, who grows like a weed. for example, this skirt here was from a pair of jeans she had when she was 3 years old. when they got too long i put a cuff on the bottom like this here so she grew into it. when it gets too old for her i'll take an old sundress and sew it into a skirt on the bottom. this outfit right here used to be a sun dress . it got to be too short. i made it into a cute little top. and sewed the trim on to the bottom of the shorts.

>> cool. we'll let you think about this one. jessica, what's with all the soda?

>> i like to save all the way around. i take half an hour every morning and look for deals online, contests, coupons. it did take about five transactions. what normally would have retailed for $300, i was able to get 24, 12 packs, nivea and the store paid me $46. i made money off this one. i ended last year with 20 theme park ticks to disney world , universal, all the major theme parks in orlando, which we were able to plan our vacations around.

>> wow!

>> we'll give you a couple of minutes to think about this we'll build the drama and announce the winner after the break in a minute.
