Vietnam vet gives Obama war patch for good luck
Back in 2008, Vietnam War veteran Earl Smith ran into the president in an elevator and gave him his most meaningful possession: a war patch he’d kept for 40 years. This week the president’s office invited Smith to D.C. where he’ll spend time at the White House, and he also made an emotional first trip to the Vietnam Memorial. TODAY contributing correspondent Jenna Bush Hager reports.
