Behind the scenes of the TODAY makeup room

>>> all this week we have been giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what happens here at studio 1a at the "today" show. we showed you the wardrobe room yesterday. today what we like to consider the nerve center of this operation. yes, the hair and makeup room. jason joins us now. good morning.

>> good morning, guys. hair and makeup room, one of my favorite rooms here at "today." spend two and a half hours every morning in here because i love the bronzer, if you can't tell. we have to give them a medal because they see us every day at our worst and make us tv ready. you know, our loyal viewers, we do four hours of live programming every day. we have two makeup rooms, one downstairs on the concourse and this one right here with the lovely kathie lee and hoda have their morning meeting.

>> please don't do -- we're doing our morning devotions.

>> oh, how are you, kathie lee ?

>> hello, jason .

>> hi, jason .

>> nice to see you guys. i thought we were giving up alcohol?

>> the show starts at 10:00 . what time is it? 8:35?

>> we have another hour and a half.

>> there we go.

>> just a little something. uh-huh.

>> never for an entire month. we just want to make that clear. we just said for an entire month on the air.

>> you didn't give the details.

>> we didn't sign anything.

>> no.

>> tell me about this room. we understand a lot of gossip goes on here.

>> how high your pants are.

>> laura takes care of us.

>> they're in here talking, talking about the guys between matt, al and willie, who is the biggest diva in the makeup chair?

>> david gregory .

>> david gregory ?

>> by far.

>> why david?

>> don't even ask about his brush. please. if you try to use it, he will hurt you.

>> hairspray.

>> he has a special brush?

>> oh, yes. oh, yes. and nobody -- back same spot. keeps trying.

>> you just finished up your morning meeting, like i was saying. i know you're dedicating the entire hour to exercise. what's planned? are you getting down and dirty?

>> yes. we have sweats on. we will be on treadmills, bikes and what else the whole time, the whole show, for about an hour.

>> that's about it.

>> we'll see you in an hour and a half?

>> we're going to sweat for about an hour and encourage everybody at home to keep sweating and start off the new year right. and, yeah, have a few laughs along the way.

>> looking forward to it. it's the hair and makeup room, my friends.

>> yes, it is.
