>> reporter: natalie, good morning to you. gun violence task force , formed in the wake of the awful shootings at newtown is expected to put out its recommendations and could include more than just a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition clips. in aurora, colorado, still reeling from last year's theater massacre, a gunman killed three people at home.
>> the suspect has been hit and is pronounced dead.
>> reporter: more long lines at gun shows but in newtown, less than a month, the decision to hold a gun collector show this weekend was met with mixed opinions.
>> it seems insensitive to have the event continue.
>> i believe they should have the gun show .
>> reporter: in addition to an assault weapons ban and crackdown on high-capacity clips, washington post reports that vice president joe biden 's gun task force could include recommendations for database to track the movement and sale of guns. stiffer penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors and stronger mental health and background checks .
>> the more conversation will be around background checks and what we can do to keep the guns out of the hands of dangerous people .
>> reporter: on "meet the press" sunday mitch mcconnell said for now the gun issue will likely be on the back burner.
>> plenty of time to take a look at their recommendations once they come forward. what will dominate washington for the next three months here will be spending and debt.
>> reporter: and the white house reportedly is developing strategies, natalie, to go around the nra, national rifle association , that has opposed similar proposals in the past.
